BAE Systems in Adelaide is supporting and upgrading the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar – Australia’s locally developed, world leading advanced sensor system – generating significant investment in Australia and pushing the boundaries of new technology and science.

Australian companies working with Defence and BAE to deliver this advanced technology include Lockheed Martin Australia and local small-to-medium enterprises like Daronmont at Mawson Lakes and Schach RF in Magill.

In a move which reinforces Australia’s status as a provider of world leading radar technology, the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has doubled its Australian order of high frequency Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR) technology.

The technology is the result of a close partnership between Lockheed Martin Australia and Adelaide based High Powered Amplifier systems expert, Schach RF. The original partnership was announced back in October 2016 which saw Lockheed Martin Australia and Schach RF work closely together to successfully engineer a world leading product.

The horizons of a niche Adelaide company have been broadened after winning a contract to supply technology to one of the world’s leading research laboratories.

The United States Government is seeking to tap into Australia’s radar expertise, contracting Lockheed Martin Australia to provide high frequency over-the-horizon-radar (OTHR) technology to one of its leading research bodies, the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).

The US government has selected Lockheed Martin Australia to provide high frequency over-the-horizon radar technology to the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in a move that reinforces Australia’s status as a provider of world-leading radar technology, the company stated.

This technology is the result of a partnership between Lockheed Martin Australia and Adelaide-based high-powered amplifier systems company Schach RF.
